Applications Ongoing For the YALI East Africa Program for Cohorts 35, 36 and 37

Deadline: July 1st 2019

Young African Leadership Initiative(YALI) was launched by the former US president in July 2010 as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The United States government saw the need to invest in nurturing young Africans. This is due to the fact that approximately 60% of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35.

There 4 regional leadership centers (Ghana, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa) that serve as regional hubs across the continent. They encourage transformational learning and enhance leadership skills. The YALI regional leadership center East Africa is located at Kenyatta University in Nairobi.

The application process is only done online. It collects basic information and includes questions regarding the applicant’s profession and academic experience. Additional elements such as a letter of recommendation or university transcript are optional and may supplement your application
