Apply For SingularityU Global Impact Challenge 2017

Are you in East Africa and have an idea or working on a solution that can solve one of the Global Grand Challenges? If so, submissions are invited from East African innovators in any technology or science discipline, working to impact the lives of people living in East Africa in addressing global challenges. The Challenges include energy, environment, food, shelter, space, water, governance, health ,learning, prosperity, security and disaster resilience. Singularity University is looking for you.

The purpose of the SingularityU East Africa Global Impact Challenge is to foster moonshot innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people living in East Africa, with an ability to scale and impact a billion people worldwide in 10 years.

The East Africa regional winner will get a full scholarship worth $35000 to attend the  prestigious Global Solutions Program at Singularity University in San Francisco .The Program will run from June 17th 2017 to August 17th 2017.

Singularity University is a global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.

Do ideas have to be at a certain stage to be submitted?

  • No, ideas do not have to be at a certain stage to be submitted. Judging criteria is based on the grandness of the idea (does it solve a problem with huge potential positive impact on millions of people) with the feasibility of being implemented (does it leverage exponential technology).

Applicants must be residents or citizens of an East African country, aged not less than 21 years.
