When you get into tech, you realize that men outnumber women both in the classroom and the boardroom. In fact, Research found that 66 percent of startups have no women on their boards. You can’t deny that. But, that should never be an obstacle. It’s high time that women stopped having the ‘if I can’ mindset. Now it’s more about ‘how I can’—be in tech, start something in tech or better yet fund something in tech.
Women In Tech Week is 5 day event that is aimed at bringing together organizations supporting women in technology and leadership. It is the biggest women oriented event in Africa which is organized by a joint collaboration of Women in Tech Africa and SAP global, a business app giant, and is expected to bring together 40 countries worldwide and more than 40,000 participants, both physically and virtually. The event will create a great platform for women to come together, learn from each other, compare their different challenges and build a strong network.
The gathering which will be held from 26th to 30th September will be launched in Kenya and will take place across 40 different countries where specific issues affecting women in technology will be discussed throughout the week. Technology and impacts of digital growth in Africa, leadership, entrepreneurship and successful business cases, work life and girls talent day will be the leading topics of discussion through the event week.

Being a Women In Tech Week Sponsor gives you an opportunity to market your business far and wide as Women In Tech itself is a powerful marketing tool. During the period through which the event will run, you will have an opportunity to market and create awareness about your brand through banners, invitations, and promotional awareness through your presence, get a 5 minute speaker spot during the event and have a paragraph of your company profile on the events sub-site sponsors section.
Before the commencement of the Women In Tech Week, many women and groups are expected to join the movement through the awareness hype created through the media including social media. This is important for the success of the event, as you may know, not many countries in Africa have not really embraced a woman in technology. Even though many countries are making baby steps in encouraging girls to embrace technology and science courses, there is much that still needs to be done and especially in the interior parts of many countries because much of these trainings are concentrated in urban centers.
As a woman always remember that Tech is too important to be left to men.
You have no idea how many wonderful communities exist out there for supporting and encouraging women to keep it up.
