It’s so unfortunate that a young pretty productive girl killed herself because of a Facebook rich tycoon. This is among many incidences that occur on a daily basis where through social media girls are lured into nasty crimes. Social media comes with both positive and negative impacts.

Currently the negative is outweighing the positive since some individuals have opted to use it to accomplish their hideous activities. Or should we say that social media is really affecting our children. This is an emerging issue that needs to be promptly addressed.

When social media was introduced it was a perfect source of current emerging issues, news feeds etc. but currently not really. Some lunatics even have guts of posting pornographic material on the social media which is not going down well with the current generation. It’s so bad how we see people glued to their phones cutting down effective socialization with persons around them. Charity begins at home but this is creating socialism with people far away than those near them. Someone check into this.

Whether we like it or not, the Internet, social media, and all of the related technology are here to stay. For this reason, it is important that parents become aware of the nature of social media sites, given that not all of them are healthy environments for children and adolescents. Pediatricians are in a unique position to help families understand these sites and to encourage healthy use and urge parents to monitor for potential problems with cyber bullying, “Facebook depression,” sexting, and exposure to inappropriate content.
